How we knew EOS was a good fit for PCI

1: Getting better at getting better is what RiseWithDrew is all about.

Monday through Thursday we explore ideas from authors, thought leaders, and exemplary organizations.  On Friday, I share something we are doing at PCI in our quest to earn a spot of Fortune magazine’s 100 Best Companies to Work For.

2: PCI is a values-based company.  We are a values-driven company.  Our five values, which we refer to as “The Five,” are at the core of everything we do.  

o Pursue Excellence Purposefully

o Unlock Human Potential

o Act with Integrity

o Innovate a Culture of Relationships and Fun

o Lead with a Servant’s Heart

We look to our values to make decisions.  When we screw up, we look to our values to get “out of the ditch” and “back on the road.” Our hiring process begins by assessing whether a potential candidate shares our values.  If the answer is no, the process ends.  We never even look at their skills or experience.

If the answer is “yes,” this person shares our values, the next step is to assess their skills, experience, and strengths.

The goal is to find candidates who share our values and have the talent to succeed in their new role. Both are required.

3: The last several Fridays we’ve been exploring some of the concepts around EOS, or the Entrepreneurial Operating System, the framework we use at PCI to build and manage our business.

Articulating and acting according to a set of values is the first element of EOS – which was an early indicator that EOS was a good fit for us at PCI.
