The stats tell a sobering story.

Obesity is a national epidemic. Rates of depression are at an all-time high. More than 50 percent of marriages end in divorce. Personal debt continues to skyrocket.

In his book, The Miracle MorningHal Elrod shares statistics from the Social Security Administration: If we take 100 people at the start of their career and follow them for the next 40 years until they retire:

  • 1 will be wealthy
  • 4 will be financially secure
  • 5 will continue working, not because they want to, but because they have to
  • 36 will be dead
  • 54 will be broke and dependent on friends, family, relatives, and the government to take care of them

Hal writes: “We are living in the most prosperous, advanced time in human history with more opportunities and resources than ever before. Yet most of us aren’t tapping into the unlimited potential that is in every single one of us.

“I’m not okay with that. Are you?”

Last week [here and here and here and here], we looked at my 7-Step Process for creating powerful, compelling annual goals to make 2026 the best year of our lives.

The critical next step is to create a plan, process, or system to reflect on our goals, outline our next steps, and keep these goals at the forefront of our minds.

Eight years ago, I read Hal’s book The Miracle Morning. It has provided a road map to make my goals a reality.

To support this plan, this week we are going to review how getting up an hour earlier and creating a “Miracle Morning” can drive progress.

It starts with a simple yet profound insight: Our outer world reflects our inner world.

More tomorrow.

Reflection: How ready am I to move from simply having annual goals for 2026 to building a consistent daily system that keeps these goals front and center in my life?

Action: Design a simple morning routine for the next 30 days where I review my 2026 goals, reconnect with why they matter, and identify one concrete step to move each priority forward.
