“Most of us don’t listen with the intent to understand. We listen with the intent to reply,” Stephen Covey tells us.
There is a better way.
What if we intentionally, deliberately set ourselves aside, including our personal opinions, and approach every conversation with the idea that we have something to learn.

“It takes effort and energy to pay attention. But it’s worth it,” Celeste Headlee tells us in her TED talk “10 Ways to have a Better Conversation.”
We begin by choosing to be present.
To quiet our mind. To be in the moment.
And set an intention…
To listen.
“Prepare to be amazed,” we tell ourselves.
