To experience better results and a better life, we are wise to focus on our habits, philosopher Brian Johnson tells us. Creating better habits involves answering five questions: who, what, why, how, and when.

1: Today we focus on… WHO.

Who am I at my best?

Who do I want to be with my “one wild and precious life?”

We start with our identity. That’s how we close the gap between who we are capable of being and who we are actually being, Brian tells us.

And, our behavior drives our identity. We act our way into our identity.

2: To begin, whatever it is we are doing, we do it to the best of our ability.

Not the outcome. We don’t control the outcome.

Instead, we focus on the inputs: our energy, our focus, our follow through, our give-a-damn.

We focus on what we control. The inputs. Not the outcome.

3: In the battle between the higher and lower versions of our selves, we choose to bring our best self to this moment.

We ask: Who am I at my absolute best?

We think about it. We reflect.

We act.

Today. Now.

This moment.

We set our intention.

In each area of our life: energy, work, and love.

Showing up moment to moment at our best. “Repeated beingness,” Brian calls it.

More tomorrow.
